1. Agreement and provider
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Federal Software Developers, the developer and provider of Federal Judicial Tracker (“FJT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By purchasing, accessing, or using the browser service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Purchases must be made by an adult capable of entering a binding agreement. If an organization pays for an individual's subscription, its payer must have authority to make that purchase; payment does not create shared or organization-wide access.
2. The service
FJT provides research and reports concerning federal judges, judicial vacancies, nominations, court jurisdictions, official updates, and related analysis through a web browser. Features, data sources, and presentation may change as the service develops.
FJT is an independent research product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the United States Courts, Federal Judicial Center, United States Senate, or any court or government agency.
3. Subscription access and use limits
Each paid subscription grants a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license during the paid subscription term. An eligible trial grants temporary access for its trial period under these Terms. A “named user” is one identified individual and may not be shared concurrently with another person.
| Subscription | Named users | Access | Permitted use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Federal Judicial Tracker — $19.95 per month before applicable tax | 1 | Sign in to the browser tracker; no software installation or license key is required. | Research, teaching, journalism, internal business work, and professional or client work by the named user. |
The named individual may use the account for personal or professional research. An organization paying for an individual's subscription does not acquire access for other employees or members. Each additional user needs a separate subscription, and the account may not be shared.
Free trial
One verified FJT browser account may start one free trial ending at the end of February 15, 2027, Central time (February 16 at 06:00 UTC). A payment card is not required to begin. The expiration date is the same for all free trials, so later signups receive less trial time. Existing free trials also end at this cutoff; FJT access begins only after the trial subscription is confirmed and linked to the account. An account that has used its trial cannot start another trial, even if the first trial ends or its access pauses.
We schedule a reminder email to the verified account address about 14 days before the trial ends. For a trial started within that period, we schedule it as soon as practical. Enrollment closes 48 hours before the fixed trial expiration because of the checkout provider’s minimum trial length. If no eligible payment method is on file when the trial ends, the subscription and FJT access pause. Adding a payment method after a pause does not by itself restore access; the same subscription must resume and any required payment must succeed before paid access returns.
4. Prices, taxes, and payment
The base subscription price is stated in U.S. dollars and is billed monthly in advance. If checkout offers another currency, it will display the amount to be charged in that currency. Applicable sales, use, value-added, or similar taxes may be added or handled through the checkout provider. The price, currency, total, and renewal terms shown at checkout control for that purchase.
If you add an eligible payment method before the trial ends and do not cancel the subscription, the checkout provider may attempt the first $19.95 monthly charge, plus applicable tax, when the trial ends. Continued paid FJT access requires successful payment. The billing provider's displayed price, currency, and total control the charge.
Payments are processed through Stripe-hosted checkout and may be subject to Stripe or Link terms and privacy practices. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
5. Automatic renewal and cancellation
After any trial, a paid subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel before the renewal charge. When you authorize paid service through the checkout or billing provider, you authorize it to charge the payment method on file for the initial paid term and each renewal, including applicable taxes, until cancellation.
You may cancel at any time by using any customer-account or billing-portal option made available to you, or by emailing stephen@FederalJudicialTracker.com. Cancellation stops future renewal charges and normally takes effect at the end of the then-current paid term. Check the effective date shown by the billing provider before confirming a cancellation there. We will provide confirmation after processing an emailed cancellation request.
We will provide renewal notices when and as required by applicable law. You are responsible for keeping your email and billing information current.
6. Thirty-day first-purchase refund
You may request a refund of your first browser subscription charge within 30 calendar days after that charge. If a trial becomes paid, the first charge after that trial is the first browser subscription charge for this paragraph. A prior purchase of the earlier Windows product does not remove eligibility for this first-browser-charge promise. This guarantee does not apply to browser renewal charges, later browser purchases, or accounts terminated for fraud, chargeback abuse, account sharing, or other material violations, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Send refund requests to stephen@FederalJudicialTracker.com from the purchaser’s email address and include the purchaser name and transaction information reasonably needed to locate the purchase. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method. Access may end when a full refund is issued.
7. Acceptable use and restrictions
The named user may use FJT for research, analysis, teaching, journalism, client work, and internal business purposes. If a report-export feature is made available, you may quote or incorporate reasonable portions of a resulting report into your own work where lawful and appropriately attributed.
You may not:
- share the browser account or named-user access beyond the purchased limits;
- sell, sublicense, rent, publish, distribute, or make the service or its compiled datasets available to others;
- misrepresent the number of users of an account;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- use FJT unlawfully, to violate another person’s rights, or to misrepresent government affiliation; or
- use automated methods to reproduce a substantial portion of the product or create a competing substitute from it.
8. Data accuracy and no legal advice
FJT relies substantially on public information from official and other sources. Public records can be delayed, incomplete, corrected, reformatted, or unavailable. Analytics, alerts, forecasts, estimates, and classifications may involve automated processing or judgment and may contain errors.
FJT does not provide legal advice, determine jurisdiction, establish filing deadlines, create an attorney-client relationship, or replace review of court rules, dockets, orders, statutes, official records, or advice from a qualified attorney. You are responsible for independently verifying information before relying on it.
9. Intellectual property and feedback
FJT’s software, design, arrangement, original text, reports, documentation, branding, and other proprietary elements are owned by Federal Software Developers or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. Public-domain source records remain subject to their applicable legal status.
If you provide suggestions or feedback, you grant us permission to use them without restriction or compensation, while we remain responsible for avoiding disclosure of information you identify as confidential.
10. Updates, support, and availability
We may provide corrections, maintenance releases, data-source changes, and feature updates through the browser service. You need internet access and a browser compatible with the service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to every feature or external source.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for nonpayment, suspected fraud, security risk, unlawful conduct, material breach, or use beyond the license limits. When reasonably possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct a curable breach. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including payment obligations, restrictions, intellectual-property rights, disclaimers, and liability limits—will survive.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FJT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND RESULTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT FJT WILL BE ERROR-FREE, THAT EVERY OFFICIAL CHANGE WILL BE DETECTED, OR THAT EXTERNAL SOURCES WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FEDERAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS AND ITS OWNERS, PERSONNEL, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, MISSED DEADLINES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION ARISING FROM FJT.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO FJT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE AFFECTED SUBSCRIPTION DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.
14. Governing terms and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable United States law and the law of the state in which Federal Software Developers maintains its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a formal claim, each party agrees to give the other written notice and a reasonable opportunity to resolve the dispute informally. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
15. Changes and general provisions
We may update these Terms prospectively. Purchases made before a new effective date remain subject to the terms presented for those purchases, except where applicable law requires otherwise. If a change materially affects an active subscription, we will provide notice as required and identify a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the checkout disclosures, and any written order terms form the agreement between the parties concerning FJT. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights without our written consent; we may assign these Terms as part of a merger, sale, reorganization, or transfer of the product.
